World Design Capital, joint declaration 2020

By the World Design Capitals

The 2020 edition of the WDC NETWORK OF CITIES MEETING is an opportunity for the World Design Capitals and invited organizations to share their practices around design.

This event is also, for them, an opportunity to affirm their commitment to a transformation sustainable and equitable of our societies and territories.

Thus, at the initiative of Lille Metropole, the World Design Capitals were invited to formalize these commitments through the signing of a joint declaration.

The World Design Capitals and the partners of the European Metropolis of Lille agree on a joint declaration in favor of the transformation of our territories and public policies through design!

On the occasion of the Network of Cities Meeting, the signature event of Lille Métropole 2020, World Capital of Design, which took place on October 13, the cities of Cape Town, Helsinki, Taipei, Turin and Valencia, are committed with the support of Eurocities, Cités Unies France, Cities Today Institute and the city of Leeds, to:

Pursue the transformation of our territories and economies through the use of Design beyond their designation as World Design Capital by association of citizens, designers, entrepreneurs, researchers ...

Adapt public policies, methods of doing and organization in order to better respond to the crises with which they could be confronted;

Make design an innovative tool with a view to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
